I love "beach reads"! For me spring and summer means it's time to sit out on my deck and read interesting books about characters on vacation near or around beaches. In my younger years I always loved grabbing books and sitting by the pool and reading for hours and tanning at the same time, now of course (older and wiser) I sit under a cover and wear a hat to avoid the sun.

I enjoy the description of the places the characters are visiting and all the drama and fun of being together on vacation with family and/or friends. One of my mother's favorite "beach reads" was "Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation", written by Edward Streeter in 1954. I wasn't born yet but sometime in the 1960s a movie based on this book came out staring Jimmy Stewart and Maureen O'hara and she was excited to see it. Her and I used to watch it when it came on tv and always kept saying we needed to go to the beach and rent a cabin and read books.

Thanks for your post, it brought back good memories of "beach reads".
