I was so grateful when you allowed me to share about my history bookclub. I look forward to another year of learning how the rest of the world reads!!!
I'm not qualified to guest post, but sure looking forward to reading they insides of those who share my passion and drive for reading.
Off topic. I'm deep in the throes of reading David Copperfield. I'm slogging through and can't wait to finish and move to a more engaging read. Any unique literature suggestions to read next? I've read most of the classics, and in dire need of something fresh.
Patti, If you haven't read it already, you might try reading Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. I haven't read David Copperfield but it's my understanding that Demon Copperhead is a modern day Appalachia retelling of David Copperfield. I don't read the classics, but I do know that Demon Copperhead has great reviews and those that loved it, really loved it.
As an aside, do you listen to podcasts? If you do and you want good reading recommendations, I suggest that you listen to What Should I Read Next by Anne Bogel and Currently Reading by Merideth Monday Schwartz and Kaytee Cobb. I get most of my recommendations from these two podcasts. Also, if you aren't already, subscribe to the Modern Mrs. Darcy blog (Anne Bogel) as she writes 2-4 posts a weeks and at least 2 of them are reading recommendations. Thank you Gayla!! I will get these suggestions this weekend.
I do listen to podcasts. I am choosy about them, but always looking for new ones. I have great ones on health and wellness, and happiness; none for reading and writing. I appreciate you taking the time to help me! As always, I love your newsletter
I'm choosy about the podcasts that I listen to also. My preference is a shorter podcast, 20-30 minutes, and both of these clock in at 50-60 minutes, but I still love them both. While I listen to sporadic episodes of many different bookish podcasts, I usually listen to EVERY episode of both of these and wish there were more. Both have a several year backlist and both have so many recommendations each episode.
I share the problem of needing (and wanting) to listen to each episode of the podcasts I truly love.
I listen to the Atlantic Series podcast on Spotify. I repeat them I so love to listen and learn from the hosts. It changes I think each season. The episodes aren't long.
Looking forward to diving into the ones you suggested. Thank you!
No problem as I'm in no hurry. I'll be publishing these throughout the year, so just get in touch with the information when you are ready and we'll proceed from there. :)
As a book blogger, I'm looking forward to reading the posts from your bookish guests. My book blog isn't on Substack. I blog mostly about retirement and ageing here, but have been enjoying reading your posts.
Thanks for reading, Jennifer! In the future, I may do a few "peeks" of non-Substack bookish blogs and I'll keep you in mind if I do that. Can you provide a link to your blog?

Great podcast recommendations! Both are excellent! I would add The Close Reads podcast.
Yes, that is another good one. Thanks for the recommendation.

Gayla, I would be interested. You can reach me: connect@olivia-barry.com 🤗😊
Super! I look forward to hearing from you. All the info you need is in this newsletter. :)
I will work on it and be in touch. It will take me a bit as I'm writing a first draft of my new novel right now. 🤗
