I’m a little intimidated by dystopian settings too, but I loved both of Celeste Ng’s previous books so much, and am always, always up for a family drama. Will definitely give Our Missing Hearts a read!
Maybe it's because it feels like we're edging closer to a dystopian world by the day, but for whatever reason, I'm finding them more...palatable, I guess, than I once did. I'm looking forward to the Celeste Ng, too, as well as Mad Honey -- I love, love, love Jennifer Finney Boylan and will read anything she writes.
I'll give Ng's book a try; I like the thought of the not too distant future; Maybe I will discover something new that I like reading. Let me know what you think about Mad Honey when you read it. And, I had no idea that Boylan has written as many books as she has. I think I've found a new author to read. I've seen several interviews with her in the past, but her being an author total flew past me. Thanks for putting her on my radar.
I still have family that lives in So Cal and they have said that it's been miserably hot there. Are you on vacation there or have you moved there? Glad to hear you subscribed to Three Pines. It should be fun.
I am constantly amazed by the range of your book coverage. I am so happy to have adopted a few new genres this year. I think some of that inspiration is due to this Newsletter. Enjoy the arrival of fall.
I'm glad you've found some new things to read this year. I don't venture too far out of my comfort zone, but I've been reading more plot driven books this year. I've had a hard time concentrating on most any other kind of book.
It has been miserably hot here in SoCal, though I’m lucky enough to live about a mile from the beach, which makes it more tolerable (unless you’re stupid enough to bake something, which I did recently, turning my kitchen and house into a sauna!). I dream of fall weather and escape into books, often on audio, listening while I walk. I did subscribe to the Three Pines podcast and can’t wait for Louise Penny’s latest entry in the series. It will be a great escape. Thanks for all your recommendations!
I know how hot it's been several times this year in So Ca, it had finally cooled down here this week. Many years ago I lived about 2 blocks from the beach and loved it. It never got hot, we didn't have a/c and we didn't need it. Thanks for reading.
I’m looking forward to Our missing hearts. Bad vibes only sounds cool as well.
Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy both. Let me know what you think. :)

Let me know what you think when you read it. I've still got several ahead of it, but I'm not going to discount it until I've tried reading it. lol
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Celeste Ng book! I had a dystopian phase a few years ago and have not been back to one since.
Well, I haven't started it yet, but I'll give it my best reader try. lol

We have 90* weather in SoCal right now. Hoping for fall in October?! I subscribed to the 🌲🌲🌲 newsletter.

I live in SoCal. 🥵
Will definitely look up Bad Vibes Only. Seems like it would fit my gimmick.
Also, lovely fall weather has descended upon Chicago. Cool and pleasant, with gorgeous fall foliage on the horizon.
Cool and pleasant, sounds dreamy. It has cooled down here a little bit this week, so I'm enjoying it.
