I'm excited for it next year. I think Sharon McMahon said that she would be at the festival and I'm sure there will be many other authors I'd like to see while I'm there. Thanks for reading, Abra!
I always seem to be behind on listening to it, but I think it is my favorite bookish podcast. I'm also a member of their Patreon community and I really enjoy it, too. Thanks for reading, Jill!
Thank you for these great links! I haven’t heard about Grizzly999 but reading about what she meant to so many people still brought tears to my eyes. I didn’t know about the New Orleans Book Festival - I’ll have to see if I can make it next year or the year after. I heard about the change on Everand yesterday and I have to say I saw some hints in the app (I suddenly had an Unlock button that was useless lol) before it was announced officially. I haven’t decided if I want to keep my legacy subscription and deal with throttling or just jump ship. I am contemplating creating a new account to try out the new sub system…
Yes, it was so sad to read about Grizzly399 dying. I didn't know much about her before the last several months, but since then I've read and watched so much. It was really, really sad. Let me know what you think about the change with Everand if you decide to stick it out or set up a new account. I've never subscribed to it even though I've thought about doing it several times--I always seem to have plenty to read, I get plenty of ARC's, and I have several library cards for Libby, so it never was something that I thought I needed. lol. Thanks for reading, Peachy! BTW, we are in the MMD Book Club together.
All wonderful stuff Gayla. First of all, my mom was in the League of Women Voters in Houston where I grew up, so I learned early about the importance of elections. Thanks so much for doing that too and for the encouraging info on how secure things look from the inside! (I don't remember my mother working the actual elections so this was good to learn about from you.) Also I'm so sorry you have to move again! You seem amazingly resilient though which I so admire and wish I could be. I'm going right now to read your link to the town with 7 new bookstores--how exciting!
Thanks for reading Susan! I had heard of the LWV before, but it wasn't until I saw something on Instagram about registering voters that I decided to look into it further. In joining, I found an way to feel like I'm helping in the cause (registering voters), and the bonus is a wonderful group of people to volunteer and socialize with. One of the ladies that I met also has a movie and lunch/dinner group that she asked me to join, so now I go to a movie and a meal every week. It's been wonderful.
That is amazing about meeting new friends through helping with elections. So now we know that can be, maybe, a great incentive to get people to volunteer, especially because making new friends can be difficult in many cities. I think I might try it myself (LWV)! Re the lunch/dinner group, I'd love to know more about how it can work, for example, do they meet at different homes, or the host's home each time, or at a restaurant? I've hosted two coffees before, and people loved it, but some moved away, and it was hard to keep up. Some people thought we could rotate houses but some of the houses can't hold more than a few extra people. Anyway it's wonderful to hear such a wonderful thing happened for you.
I am glad to hear you are already researching the 2025 book festival. So fun when people get excited about these events.

Good luck with your move!
Thanks, Renee! Moving is one of those things that you just have to "get through." lol
