I've been told that before and it's my understanding that he is exclusive to Amazon/Audible. I'm not sure of all the facts, but when I google it, that's what I see. It's too bad for many different reasons.
I agree, and I love their recommendations as they are not usually books that I've heard about. They've flown under the radar for me, so I'm excited when I find one that interests me that I haven't heard of before. They put so much effort into choosing their books and putting the episodes together.
I'm happy that you found a podcast that has you "addicted." I enjoy it and listen to the episodes all the time. I've not listened to all of them yet, but I will eventually.
I know, that is horrible. And the writer was correct, there are companies that "rent books" for just this purpose. The entitlement of some people just amaze me, and not in a good way.
I didnt know one could check e-books out of the library until around 2016 (I think), so while I started on Overdrive, I was an immediate convert to Libby when I heard about it. I agree, I think it's easier, but I also think is all has to do with what you are used to. The lack of the recommendation feature is a "deal breaker" for some people, but I just read yesterday that Libby now allows you to use a specific tag, (which takes the place of the "recommendation feature) to recommend books. The only drawback is that it doesn't automatically put you on the hold list when it is purchased. I'm unclear as to why Libby can't do that, but I'm not a programmer, so I'll leave it to the experts. Maybe it will be added one of these days.
I used the recommendation feature a few times, but I guess it wasn't that important to me. In my comment to Cassie above, I mentioned that I just read yesterday that Libby has a specific tag to use that solves part of the recommendation problem. Here is the link to that article:
Sounds like a wonderful pivot to a relaxing weekend. Your reference to gall was my choice for the worst karma story of the last week or so. Each time you mention Libby I am reminded that I became a user of it within my library system on a MUCH MORE FREQUENT basis because of YOU!
I use Libby and love it except when I can't find a popular book in audio format. Andy Weir for example has no Libby audiobooks in English.

You introduced me to Strong Sense of Place and I'm now completely addicted.
Strong Sense of Place is the best! I’ve read a bunch of their recs and have never been disappointed :)

The book store return! No!!!

I'm such a Libby fan—I think it's so much easier to use than Overdrive and am baffled more people don't use it! Libby stan 4lyfe!

I switched to Libby a couple of years ago but I still use Overdrive for recommending a book because I can’t find that feature on Libby.

I haven't tried this yet, but I thought this might interest you.
Thanks for all the great links. I, too, love books & food. I write books and cook food, but my writing is certainly better than my cooking!
That's a toss up for me. What I cook, I cook well, I just don't cook many things. But my reading ability is far better than both of them. lol

Awe, that makes my bookish heart smile; Overdrive/Libby are just the greatest invention!
