I love the bookish conversation starters! The one I’ll definitely be using is which authors are auto-buys. I don’t think I’ve ever asked someone that before which is a shame because it’s such a good question!

I agree, that is a great question and conversation starter. Have a great weekend!

I agree. Those conversation starters are fantastic! Especially, what book you recommend most often.

My TBR is always growing! I have two advanced reader copies I need to finish and I also hope to read Elliot Page's new memoir soon!

My TBR for the weekend is the classic gothic horror - The Turn of the Screw.

I can't say that I've read much, or maybe even any horror; I'm too much of a scaredy cat. lol

Dear Gayla, Please stop sending me your newsletter with great book suggestions because I simply do not have time to read them. Sincerely, My TBR Pile is Already a Mile High. (I'm kidding!)

Dear My TBR Pile is Already a Mile High,

Thanks so much for writing; it seems you have a problem that many readers have. Unfortunately, there is NO known cure for this other than to relax and read. If you do this often and fast enough, your TBR might go down a little, but it would hardly be noticeable, so it's best if you just keep reading, keep adding to your TBR and enjoy the ride!

Sincerely,

Happy Reading!

Love your link collections. And, silly me, for some reason I thought the Pillsbury Bake-off was still going, off in some obscure kitchen somewhere.

Thanks for reading! And I'm as silly as you as I thought the bake-off was still going on too. I used to have a subscription to the monthly recipe book you'd see at the checkout in the grocery stores and I loved it. I don't even know if they make them anymore.

I forgot about that book! I loved it, too!

Congrats on finding an apartment (that I assume you love)! I've forgotten - where are you moving to when you retire?

Thanks Jan. I'm just moving to the next town over from where I'm living now. My daughter and grandkids moved there a couple of years ago and I just want to be closer. We'd love to move elsewhere, but unfortunately, the custody agreement with the kids' dad dictates that we stay put until the youngest is 18, which is 8 years from now. Who knows, maybe we'll move elsewhere then. Yes, love my new apartment. It's about the same size as my current one, but it's new and that makes it special. :)

a new apartment is fun. A new project! A clean slate! Even moving one town over... Closer to your grandkids is a great reason to move!

Lovely post. ~ And I took a peek at the beautiful libraries. In a few weeks, I'll be working on my next novel at The Gladstone Library, UK. 🤗🤗

Oh, that sounds like fun, at least the library part. I know writing is hard work but at least you can do it in a library.

Hi Gayla. I've just subscribed and am already in love after just reading through a few of your posts. What a goldmine! I'm looking forward to taking a deep dive!

Thanks for subscribing Heather; I'm happy you are enjoying some of my posts. I've been MIA the last few weeks, but I'm hoping to write again soon. I underestimated several things related to my retirement and upcoming move and both seem to have taken over my life.

I, along with all your other happy readers, will be waiting patiently. Enjoy the special moments of 'just retiring' and moving to a new place. They may seem chaotic in the moment, but there are probably some laughs and sweet times along the way. ❤
