Gayla, I simply must know: are you a super speed-reader, do you never sleep, or is it some combination of the two? I envy your amazing rate of consumption!
I am not a super speed reader but I do find my self skimming when I am not engaged in the book I'm reading. When I go to bed, I usually read and unfortunately fall asleep before I intended to, but I do sleep between 6 and 7 hours a night. I am a voracious reader and between email newsletters, blogs, magazine articles, books and a little bit of scrolling social media, I probably read an average of 3-4 hours every day. I'm always on the lookout for interesting bookish articles to share with my readers and I read several bookish blogs that put upcoming books on my radar. I live alone so I have do what I want, when I want which makes it so much easier to read anything that appeals to me. Thanks for asking.
Thanks Trevor, I enjoy looking for links and putting it together when I have a bunch to share. Some of my favorite newsletters round up links related to what the newsletter is about and I always enjoy those the most. It puts new sources of reading on my radar that I wouldn't have know about otherwise.
Thanks for sharing these articles and resources, most of which I hadn't come across in my scrolling. NPR's Books We Love is a great resource and the bookish advice column is great. I've been reading Lit Hub for a few years, but there's so much content I somehow missed this.
I've been reading Lit Hub also for a few years, but the daily email with SO many links seems to have the opposite affect on me as other linky emails; maybe there are too many links or maybe the extended description isn't enough for me to know if I want to click through, and I just get frustrated; probably the later. But I agree, there is so much content throughout their website and so much to miss unless you peruse it frequently.
I enjoyed the audiobook article. I'm always fascinated with what goes on behind the scenes of many different things-how the sausage is made ,and this one was right in line with that.
Oh, I'm glad you found something you liked and it was helpful. I love it when I can walk away from reading something and learn a fun fact or useful tidbit that I didn't know before.
I ate up your article on audiobooks because someone recently asked me to come in and read something. After reading that, I don't think they know what they're asking of me. And I can't believe you haven't looked at MY page yet! https://benwoestenburg.substack.com
These are some great links! I was really interested in the history of the Kindle — I got my first (and last/only) one in 2014 but have since phased it out to read via the Kindle app on the iPad since it renders graphic novels & comic books way better.
I wasn't here during the og weekly Links, but glad you're bringing them back! I love finding out what everyone's been reading and finds interesting enough to share hehe.
I can see why a Kindle isn't good for graphic novels. Even though I read on the Kindle app on my iPad I still read on Kindle too. I'm happy the links are interesting to you. Links posts are some of my favorite to write and I love reading the links posts from my favorite newsletters.

That sortable book list is fun, and I’m sure super helpful for keeping up with what’s been released across the board lately.
Also, I can’t imagine opening a bookstore at 16. In fact, I can’t imagine opening a bookstore now, ha. Seems like a pretty literary family though.
I love the link emails too, so keep ‘em coming!

I'll have to check out that audiobook link when I get time. Thanks!

Thank you, Gayla, and Happy New Year! 📚
Thanks Jolene, and Happy New Year to you too!
Ooohhh... love that NPR link especially! Thank you.
