Wow, so many books I want to check out here, Gayla! Thanks so much! And good luck with the knee. I’ve had problems (and still have) with both knees and have found physical therapy definitely helps (plus a few OTC pain relievers and ice). Best wishes for a full recovery!
I'm hoping for good results as I've never had problems with my legs before. I live on the 3rd floor and having to climb all the steps can't be helping it. lol
Hi Gayla, thanks so much for including Built From the Fire and mentioning Run It Back. It's nice to know the hours I poured into the newsletter connected with people. As you mention here, mustering up the energy to write the entries can be a real challenge sometimes, but it feels like there's few better ways for a writer to build an authentic community these days. I hope you keep this one going!
Thanks for reading Victor. My very first Subtack newsletter was on the 100th anniversary of the massacre. I had never heard of it before, not in school or since then, but then I read Dreamland Burning by Jennifer Latham and set out to read all I could about the actual event. If you are interested, here is the link to that newsletter:
I'd love to feature you as a guest writer on SoNovelicious on or around the publication day of Built From the Fire. If this is something you'd like to explore further, feel free to email me at sonovelicious@gmail.com.
I wish you much success with your book and your writing and I hope to hear from you.
So many books, so little time. I am really enjoying new genres FINALLY. With a bit of a break from Substack to get comfortable with Notes, maybe my TBR can shrink and my newly read will grow. Enjoy your summer Gayla.
I'm really looking forward to 'The Stolen Hours', by Karen Swan. I *love* her books for their escapism, and this is the second in a series that started out in the last days of life on the island of St Kilda, in the outer Hebrides. The true story is fascinating, and she's done a great job with the concept.
So many great recommendations. I saw the Secret Life of Flora Lea on Insta and it intrigued me. Now that I've read the synopsis here, I'm ready to buy it!
I'm excited to read The Secret Book of Flora Lea. There are just too many books I'd like to read. I had never heard of that town or the festival until 2020 and they went virtual because of Covid. Since then I've been a loyal viewer and fan and can't wait until next year.
I loved The Firekeeper's Daughter and cannot WAIT for Warrior Girl Unearthed.
I'm excited about the newest one too.
SAME!

Summer reading is my favorite too and there are just so many good books out 😍 I’ve heard great things about Yellowface
I've heard and read about so many good books, I just wish there was more time.
I like Christina Lauren (I've only read one of their books) and I want to read this new book.
Let me know what you think when you read it.
I’ve read Flora Lea. Enjoy!
Thanks Carol.

I don't believe I've heard of this author; I'll have to check it out.
Been meaning to read Falling. Thanks for the reminder!
One of these days I'll take command over my fears and read it too. lol Thanks for reading Michael.
Ironically I'm currently reading Ken Folletts Night Over Water which has a similar plot of a pilot being forced to do something

I'm a huge fan of Patti Callahan Henry and I'll read anything she writes.
Embarrassed to admit I've not read her. But now I will!
I'm so excited for you that you've discovered her and her books. You have some incredible reading in front of you.
First of all, I love Newburyport but I've never made it to their literary festival. Sounds great! I LOVED The Secret Book of Flora Lea!!!!
