More Bookish Newsletters for Readers
I'm a firm believer that one can never have enough bookish newsletters to read, and I'm here to do my part to fill your inbox with more bookish goodness
Hi readers,
Welcome, new readers! I’ve had many new subscribers over the last couple of weeks. I’m happy you are here and want to share in my bookish corner of the internet. Readers are just the best people in the world!
The bookish Substack community is growing by leaps and bounds, and I’m excited to see all the new bookish newsletters. Some of these creators are book authors, some are industry professionals, and others are bookstore store owners, but so many are “readers” that want to share their love of reading with others. I subscribe to any that I discover on Substack, and I periodically share some with readers like I’m doing today.
is brought to you by True Biz author Sara Novic. The logo for her newsletter jumps right out at you. If you’ve read True Biz, you instantly know it’s related to her. She writes about the deaf community and her book, the books she’s reading, and upcoming events she’s participating in. So far, it’s been a monthly newsletter, and I wish it were more often. is a newsletter written by Diamond-Michael Scott. His newsletter focuses on “community, connection, and belongingness, one book at a time.” He’s interviewed authors, booksellers, and others and specializes in writing about nonfiction books and other bookish adjacent topics. Another newsletter he’s created is that he describes as a “digital publication exploring the deeper context behind the prevailing racial divide we face today and how to thoughtfully address it.” If you are looking for diversity in your reading, his newsletters provide some of the best content I’ve discovered to help you do that. is a delightful newsletter by Hannah Griffin where she combines a short review of an excellent book with making delicious bread and shares the bread recipe too. She tells the reader why she liked the book and shares how the bread ties to the book. She also provides pictures of the yummy bread and bread-making process; what a unique premise and fun read every issue is. is a new-to-me newsletter written by novelist Brooke Lea Foster and editor Nancy Fann-Im. Brooke started her bookish and literary newsletter in January and already has a treasure trove of bookish posts for your reading pleasure. She's written two historical fiction novels over the last few years, and I'm looking forward to writing more about her and her books in the very near future. Maybe she'll tell us more about her latest novel and when we can read it. newsletter recently celebrated a milestone; Dana published her 100th newsletter! She writes a weekly newsletter highlighting two to three books and includes some book-adjacent topics too. I enjoy the newsletter because she reads and writes about many of the same books I enjoy reading. I always learn something new from each newsletter, and I'm happy to see it in my inbox every Sunday morning. Congratulations on #100! is a weekly newsletter celebrating queer lit and home baking. Laura Sackton, who is also a Book Riot contributor, has created a vibrant newsletter celebrating the books she enjoys reading. She says she has "wide and eclectic taste in books, but I love queer lit most of all." I enjoy her newsletters because she puts books on my radar that probably wouldn't show up on their own. She shares three books based on a theme, bakes a yummy dish or two, and shares the pictures and recipes. She also includes other book recommendations and many other bookish-related links; there is too much to mention here about each newsletter, so check it out yourself.I’ve shared other bookish newsletters in past newsletters here, here, here, and here. Some links are not just “bookish” newsletters but travel and food newsletters that I enjoy reading every time they drop into my inbox. Take a trip through the archives above and check out others that might interest you.
Have you discovered any bookish newsletters that you enjoy seeing in your inbox? I’d love to know what those newsletters are so I can check them out too. You can tell me in the comments below.
Last week's weather was cold at night and then somewhat warmer during the day, but still considered winter weather in Texas. This week is supposed to be in the 80s. That’s Texas weather for you—it can’t decide what it wants to do. It’s getting hectic and stressful at work, which slows my bedtime reading to a crawl because I can’t stay awake long enough to read much at all. I read a little more on the weekends, so hopefully, I can finish a book or two that I’m so close to the end of. I hope your week is a good one. Happy reading!
Oh thank you for including Good Book/Good Bread! :) Also a few of the above I haven't heard of so am excited to take some time to check them out this week.
What a great line up of other writers to check out!
