Oh good, let me know what you think when you read it. It's not for everyone, but I enjoyed it, especially reading it while I was not feeling good. Yes, I am feeling much better. Thanks.
Glad your health has improved, Gayla, and that the recent illness wasn’t Covid!
“Search” sounds like a fun summer read with its mashup of food, religion and literary pursuit.
I’m an avid audiophile, especially since I discovered the Libby app that allows me to download books that strike my fancy for free from the library. The added bonus is I take extended walks because I’m so engrossed in listening that I don’t give up out of boredom or fatigue!
Libby is the greatest invention since sliced bread. An aside, I remember hearing this all my life growing up, but I never knew why sliced bread was such a big deal. Until I discovered that the bread you buy in the stores didn't used to come sliced. Now it makes sense.
Back to Search, there are many recipes in the back of the book of the items being made throughout the book. I wish there had actually been more talk of the "food critic and food writing" throughout the book, but that wasn't the focus of the book. lol
I LOVE Libby! In addition to listening to books, I’ve even started reading a few on my phone, though I still prefer hard copies, but the phone is so damn portable and convenient--except when I lose it, which is too often.
Thanks for the digression about the origin of the saying “the best ... since sliced bread.” Never thoughts of it, but, as a bread baker myself, I have some quibbles with commercially sliced bread, which tends to go stale rather quickly. (More digressing!)
I’m definitely going to read Search and imagine I’ll feel as you do.
Thanks Betsy. I've decided audiobook listening is an art and like all forms of art, most people are not good at something when they begin. It takes repeated trial and error to find the best narrators, genres, listening speeds and lengths. I'm still trying to figure it out.
Glad you're feeling better and I know exactly what you mean — it's difficult to write newsletter issues ahead of time but boy would that solve a lot of issues (pun intended).
Those bookstore chalkboards were delightful, great find! :D
Thanks Nia. There is at least one writer that commented here that I know writes several issues ahead; I wish I knew her secret. I get an issue ahead and then use that as an excuse not to write, so I sabotage myself. lol
Oooh, Search is on my library holds list -- I can't wait to get to it. I'm glad to hear your reaction to it, Gayla. (And I hope you're on the mend!)

Hope you're feeling better, Gayla! Thanks for the suggestions. I'm adding these to me ever-growing READ list!
Yes, feeling great now and thank you for being here.

Loved the link to the attributes of a great audio book. I am glad you are recovering and hope you continue to feel stronger every day!

Me too. I've managed to avoid it all this time.
