There more than I realized; I think there are enough bookish creators that it's time for Substack to set up a "books and reading" category in their discover feature. I'd also like to see them promote us like they started doing for the "food writers" category. Today is 'office hours", if I have a few minutes I may try to pop in and suggest that to them.
These all sound so good, Gayla! I also believe that books + food + travel pair marvelously well. In a world/international/own voices/diverse literature book club that I run, I offer a guide to go with the title every month and it always includes travel & food links. It's a fun and integral part of the experience!
You can be, Gayla, as it's online! :) Link is on my BookLove Letter page, or reach out and I'd be happy to tell you more. We're reading Defenestrate, by Renée Branum in April, set partly in Prague, so there'll undoubtedly be incredible architecture and fried cheese in the guide.
Oh, you're a sneaky one, Gayla! Your last newsletter I gave you a tongue-lashing for making my TBR pile even larger. So this week you try and placate me by saying all kinds of nice things about our newsletter, while ALSO suggesting new newsletters to read.
You’ve hit the nail on the head with books, travel and food, Gayla! Looking forward to digging into some new ones. And I’m a huge fan of Jolene’s Time Travel Kitchen!
What a great list of travel and food folks. Thanks for sharing. Found a couple more to subscribe to. 😉
I'm glad you found more to subscribe to. :)
