Brooke inspired me, and I immediately bought her book Summer Darlings. I used to spend my summers in the Vineyard (Martha’s Vineyard) when my kids were little. Just loved it.

And Brooke and I also share a similar "in between" title for our novels. 😊🤗🩷

I enjoyed Summer Darlings. I have On Gin Lane, maybe I'll read it after I get settled after my move.

I came into writing a roundabout way. I fell in love with story-telling in movies and video games. Having no ability or access to those mediums, I asked Grandma for a notebook and pen. But I didn't enjoy reading until much later, when an inspirational teacher taught me books can be fun. I think Gulliver's Travels inspired me most with it's biting satire. By the way, some original fiction by yours truly will be posted tomorrow for anyone interested.

It seems like Grandmas often play a part in writer's stories. Thanks for telling your story.

If you liked Atonement my McEwan you absolutely have to give Saturday by him a go. It’s my favourite McEwan novel, it is a microscopic deep dive into one day in the life of a surgeon. The level of research that McEwan went to for this book is phenomenal. It is so worth your time.

I'm always at a loss how you manage to explore so much writing goodness Gayla! It was fun to read Brooke's origin story.

Thanks for reading Mark! It's funny, you think I do so much (I appreciate you) and I wish I could so much more. Maybe after I retire and have more time, I'll find a way to do more with SoNovelicious.
